“[An] exceptional storyteller . . . Leave it to [Karen] Robards to deliver the start of a series that is distinctive and unforgettable!”—RT Book Reviews A sought-after expert in criminal pathology, Dr. Charlotte Stone regularly sits face-to-face with madmen. At the age of sixteen, she herself survived a serial killer’s bloodbath. Because of the information she gave police, the Boardwalk Killer went underground, but Charlie kept her postmortem visions of the victims to herself. Years later, to protect her credibility as a psychological expert, she tells no one about these apparitions. Now a teenage girl is missing, her family slaughtered. The Boardwalk Killer—or a sick copycat with his M.O.—is back. This is the one case Charlie knows she shouldn’t go near. But she also knows that she may be the one person in the world who can stop this vicious killer, especially when she receives help from an unexpected source: The fiery spirit of a seductive bad boy who refuses to be ignored. “Excellent . . . This story is going to haunt you.”—Pittsburgh Post-Gazette “Thrilling . . . a fun and sexy read.”—Booklist “Tantalizing.”—Library Journal Features a preview of the next Charlotte Stone novel, The Last Kiss Goodbye.

The perp? Detective Reed Ware, model cop turned outlaw. Cool, calm, controlled. That’s Caroline’s reputation. But when Reed, looking even hotter than he did years ago when seventeen-year-old Caroline tried to seduce him, becomes her next case, she’s swept up by their still-sizzling tension. Nothing about tonight is what it seems, and it’s up to Caroline to put the pieces together—if she can think fast enough over the pounding of her heart. But the harder Caroline tries to do her job, the more she begins to wonder whose side she’s really on.

Kissin' Hell Goodbye is the eighth book in author Charlotte Johnson s series of motivational texts. This book is the well awaited return to the lives of Charlotte and Buck that has been anticipated since book five in the series, Mama May I. This time when we return to Charlotte and Buck, the readers learn that they have not obtained the idyllic happy ending longed for by all true romantics. Dr. Johnson introduces the audience to a new and explosive literary technique. Rather than simply describing the emotions of her characters, she uses the poetry in songs to convey their feelings and inner turmoil, specific plot points, and to weave together the entire drama. This is a very pithy way of providing the reader knowledge about the character s feelings while invoking an emotional response from them based on their own past experiences with the songs in the book. Puritanical, conventional, and conservative readers may be shocked and tempted to focus on the weaknesses and flaws of the central characters. By having their own past experiences and emotions stimulated by song, it allows the reader to show grace and mercy to the characters because they also have felt or been weak, vulnerable, or in love. The love shared by Charlotte and Buck is so persistent despite their challenges and the disapproval of their families that inevitably Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet comes to mind. A love that has the potential to flourish beautifully continues to be denied, tragically. Unlike Romeo and Juliet, these lovers complicate their own romance as much as their well intentioned families. The reader will enjoy this very passionate, provocative, chaotic, and sensual love. If you are looking for a safe romance, this is not the book. These lovers are as refreshing, evocative, and as shocking as Janie and Teacake in Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. The powerful intoxicating nature of the kiss in both books is a strong symbol. The theme of a woman giving up and risking everything to defy society s conventional beliefs, roles, norms, and mores in order to experience life and love is essential in both books. This is an opportunity to experience an exhilarating and passionate love that defies the reason and understanding of others, but leaves the couple feeling ecstatic and aware of the importance of living and loving in a wild, reckless, and carefree manner even if it ends. You will examine yourself to see if you have had a true love or just a lover. They say it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. After reading this book, I wonder if experiencing love can ever really be considered a loss. Love persists even in separation. The experience leaves us enriched and changed. Dr. Johnson continues to offer Biblical teaching by using her own life as an example of the struggles we all face on the road to salvation. This is an excellent book for those who have loved, are in love, yearn to love and be loved, or are seeking to rekindle love. It deals with the themes of overcoming adversity and familial pressure. Dr. Johnson shares in a way that is rarely done by public or religious leaders. She is open in order to teach others about God s willingness to love and use imperfect people so that He gets the glory. I implore readers to remember that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory.

Dear Reader, It is difficult for an author to choose a favorite from among her own books, especially when she has been lucky enough—as I have—to make a career out of doing what she loves. But some stories are memorable because they mark an important milestone in an author’s life, and for me, perhaps none is more special than Island Flame—my very first book. I was thrilled when it was published, and now, more than thirty years later, I am just as excited to share it again with you. Island Flame is a classic tale of romance on the high seas, featuring two extraordinary characters: the headstrong Lady Catherine Aldley and the legendary pirate Jonathan Hale. I don’t have to tell you that their tumultuous escapade sizzles with passion (lots of passion!), but what I hope you will take away most from Cathy and Jonathan is that dreams do come true—in love and in life. Mine did, and I hope yours will too. I look forward to sharing many more adventures together in the future. Enjoy! Karen Robards

New York Times bestselling author Karen Robards continues her penchant for “fantastic storytelling” (RT Book Reviews) with this heart-pumping and nail-biting tale of a brilliant ornithologist trapped on the remote Attu Island in Alaska, fighting for her life—and that of a handsome stranger—before they’re swallowed up in darkness forever. Ornithologist Dr. Gina Solomon, PhD, can’t believe her good fortune when she’s picked as one of a small group of Stanford University scientists lucky enough to be allowed to conduct research on Attu Island, Alaska. But a dream come true soon turns into a nightmare when she witnesses the horrifying break-up of a small plane. As the pieces rain down around her into the frigid waters of the Bering Sea, Gina heads toward the crash site looking for survivors and discovers James "Cal" Callahan. But when the two realize the plane crash wasn’t an accident—and that the individuals responsible are still on the island—will they escape before they’re swallowed up in darkness forever? Set against the harsh wilderness of Alaska, Darkness is yet another of Robards’s “scintillating romantic thrillers” (Publishers Weekly) featuring the well-paced suspense and twists that has made Robards an icon in the romance genre.
