The Kanji Learner's Course Green Book offers the most convenient way to practice the writing of all 2,300 kanji in the widely praised Kodansha Kanji Learner's Course.Even today when most learners are focused on learning to read kanji rather than to write them, handwriting practice remains essential. Integrating hand-eye coordination with the kinesthetic experience of each kanji's stroke sequence, handwriting improves your ability to recognize each kanji, grasp intuitively how it is put together, and distinguish it from lookalikes.Designed to help you use your study time most efficiently, this simple little workbook contains just the right quantity of writing spaces -- four large spaces followed by seven small spaces -- to give you enough practice for each character. It also offers you:* Convenience: Following the Course sequence entry by entry, the Green Book makes it easy for you to structure the right amount of handwriting practice into your study routine, experience a sense of creative accomplishment, and exploit the Course's full value.* A broad overview of groups of related kanji: Displaying forty kanji per spread, it also allows you to survey the Course's graphically related groupings, consider the similarities and differences among nearby characters, and fully absorb how each kanji's unique features and composition relate to its meaning.* A good solution for mastering stroke order: Each entry contains both a guide character and tracing characters, but deliberately excludes stroke order to allow you to develop an independent mastery of kanji composition. The main Course book provides stroke order diagrams for when you need them, but this will not be very often provided you follow the Course's graphically cumulative sequence and practice writing every kanji as you go.* Guidance for mastering proper stroke forms: Both the guide characters and the practice squares are cross-hatched to help you achieve precise form.* Savings: Standard genkyshi manuscript paper typically costs around US$7-12 online. The Green Book is priced toward the bottom of this range while offering unique convenience for users of the Kanji Learner's Course.

Through the use of "KanjiHybrids"—a concept invented by the author—learners of Kanji and taught to link the characters mentally with English words to form one integral and indivisible unit. This innovative mnemonic device has been proven to train the learner to retain each kanji in the memory much better than simple repetition of the kanji alone—as well as enabling users to differentiate similar–looking kanji characters. Specific learning strategies also enable users to progress quickly from the beginner to advanced level kanji, with stroke orders shown clearly for each kanji character. Eight different indexes-including the highly useful Flip–it Index—form the last part of this unique handbook. Contains the complete list of all 1,945 kanji characters taught in Japanese schools. Presents a new KanjiHybrids system linking kanji characters with English words to aid memorization. Innovative learning strategies guide learners at all levels from beginner to advanced.

Classical Methods of Statistics is a guidebook combining theory and practical methods. It is especially conceived for graduate students and scientists who are interested in the applications of statistical methods to plasma physics. Thus it provides also concise information on experimental aspects of fusion-oriented plasma physics. In view of the first three basic chapters it can be fruitfully used by students majoring in probability theory and statistics. The first part deals with the mathematical foundation and framework of the subject. Some attention is given to the historical background. Exercises are added to help readers understand the underlying concepts. In the second part, two major case studies are presented which exemplify the areas of discriminant analysis and multivariate profile analysis, respectively. To introduce these case studies, an outline is provided of the context of magnetic plasma fusion research. In the third part an overview is given of statistical software; separate attention is devoted to SAS and S-PLUS. The final chapter presents several datasets and gives a description of their physical setting. Most of these datasets were assembled at the ASDEX Upgrade Tokamak. All of them are accompanied by exercises in form of guided (minor) case studies. The book concludes with translations of key concepts into several languages.
