Surrounded by inhumane working conditions at the mine, senseless death, and overwhelming greed, miners begin disappearing. Searching for answers to the workers’ disappearances, Milena can’t trust anyone, especially not Jack Buchanan, a man haunted by the tragedy in his own past. Theater of Illusion revisits the Spirit of the River, the home and workplace of Emma’s children, Sarah and Tobias Perkins. Sarah yearns to pilot the riverboat but must compete with her childhood rival, Jeremy Smith, for the traditionally male position. When a traveling theater extravaganza boards to entertain, one by one passengers and crew fall victim to a mysterious and deadly illness. Will Sarah bring the Spirit of the River and the surviving passengers home, or is all hope of escape an illusion?

So, this is my first venture into science fiction, at least for writing it. I've been a huge sci-fi fan all my life: I've seen every Star Trek episode ever made, many of my all-time favorite movies are sci-fi Alien, Predator, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, et. al.. However, I never thought I'd write write it. I've always written fantasy, and fantasy is all I've ever written until now. I have finally entered the arena of sci-fi as a writer, although there are those who think this is more fantasy in space than true sci-fi. Not that that's a terrible thing... So, in any event, Garm ap Avanon is the third and final (?) mortal incarnation of the Spirit of Vengeance. His first was in ancient Rome. In the second, he was a rogue adventurer who lived in the 19th century and traveled all over Asia, Africa and Europe. And now, in his 29th century incarnation he is a rogue adventurer yet again, a world-class martial artists with few if any equals. But, impressive as that obviously is, it's going to take a lot more than that. For he must face not only the unforgiving realities of Vulturnus a savage, primal world that could be a near duplicate of Earth in the Mesozoic Era, dinosaurs and all on the one hand but also, on the other, the forces of a powerful, merciless monarch hell-bent on carving out in the cosmos an empire like that his ancestors, the Conquistadors, carved out on Earth centuries before.

This is a timeless romance of lives forever intertwined, of vast blessings gained at incredible cost. It is an immensely engaging story for all who have pondered the sweeping drama of existence, or who have gazed upon the battlefields of life, and wondered why.

'The best one-volume study of Churchill yet available.' David Cannadine, Observer 'Magisterial.' Vernon Bogdanor, New Statesman 'A tour de force... A masterly chronicle of Churchill as a domestic figure rather than as the bulldog wartime leader, and one of the most subtle portraits of him as a politician. Addison revises the view of Churchill as uninterested and out of his depth in domestic affairs, painting instead a nuanced picture of a canny parliamentarian. Churchill changed parties twice but managed to accomplish the change, writes Addison, 'with exceptional dexterity', making it appear as if he were maintaining his principles while the parties changed theirs... Addison's most interesting assertion is that the rise of Hitler saved Churchill from drifting into right-wing irrelevance. Most impressively, Addison doesn't settle for easy classifications, admitting that 'Churchill... is a man of whom almost everything that can be said is true in part.'' Kirkus Review
