Don’t judge a book by its cover, or a bag lady by her appearance. ‘I didn’t always look like this,’ she says. ‘Being barmy doesn’t mean I’m stupid.’ Lady Bag does have her problems – her close relationship with cheap red wine, for example. When she gets hammered she talks to her dog. When she’s extra-hammered her dog talks to her. Guess who makes better sense. She and her rescue greyhound, Electra, wander through the streets of London, seeing a Dickensian side of the capital city that’s visible only to the homeless. Together they accept the kindness and unkindness of strangers with the same wry patience. Until, on one dreadful day, they meet the Devil outside the National Portrait Gallery… About Anna Lee “Electric with suspense, fast and funny… ” Publisher’s Weekly “Loud hurrahs… story wonderfully alive, truly tense, dialogue sharp and accurate!” HRF Keating, The Times About Eva Wylie “A staggering achievement… A breath-taking tour de force.” Sara Paretsky “… Eva is a wondrous creation - an incorrigible innocent in a story that crackles with energy. Super Cody.” Kirkus Reviews About Gimme More “Give me more books like Gimme More.” Laura Lippman “Probably the greatest rock’n’roll novel ever.” Nick Johnstone, uncut About Ballad of a Dead Nobody “I was gripped… [told] beautifully, touchingly, sometimes brutally… ” Peter Lovesey “Adventurous in form, sparklingly written and with every page more gripping than the last, this bluesy novel may well be the already garlanded Cody’s best yet.” Mat Coward, Morning Star About Miss Terry “Compelling… warm and amusing, written with the characteristic Cody honesty… a terrific read.” Peter Lovesey

Edgar® Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author C.J. Box delivers a thriller about a troubled cop trying to save his son from a killer in Yellowstone. Cody Hoyt, while a brilliant cop, is an alcoholic struggling with two months of sobriety when his mentor and AA sponsor Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin. At first it looks like the suicide of a man who's fallen off the wagon, but Cody knows Hank better than that. Sober for fourteen years, Hank took pride in his hard-won sobriety and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to talk Cody off a ledge. When Cody takes a closer look at the scene of his friend's death, it becomes apparent that foul play is at hand. After years of bad behavior with his department, he's in no position to be investigating a homicide, but this man was a friend and Cody's determined to find his killer. When clues found at the scene link the murderer to an outfitter leading tourists on a multi-day wilderness horseback trip into the remote corners of Yellowstone National Park--a pack trip that includes his son Justin--Cody is desperate to get on their trail and stop the killer before the group heads into the wild. Among the tourists is fourteen-year-old Gracie Sullivan, an awkward but intelligent loner who begins to suspect that someone in their party is dangerous. In a fatal cat and mouse game, where it becomes apparent the murderer is somehow aware of Cody's every move, Cody treks into the wilderness to stop a killer hell bent on ruining the only thing in his life he cares about. C. J. Box's Back of Beyond is a Kirkus Reviews Best of 2011 Mysteries title.

Decreed by David Letterman (tongue in cheek) on CBS TV’s The Late Show to be the pick of “Dave’s Book Club 2006,” Candy Girl is the story of a young writer who dared to bare it all as a stripper. At the age of twenty-four, Diablo Cody decided there had to be more to life than typing copy at an ad agency. She soon managed to find inspiration from a most unlikely source— amateur night at the seedy Skyway Lounge. While she doesn’t take home the prize that night, Diablo discovers to her surprise the act of stripping is an absolute thrill. This is Diablo’s captivating fish-out-of-water story of her yearlong walk on the wild side, from quiet gentlemen’s clubs to multilevel sex palaces and glassed-in peep shows. In witty prose she gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at this industry through a writer’s keen eye, chronicling her descent into the skin trade and the effect it had on her self-image and her relationship with her now husband.
