Paulus George Markgraf was born in 1731 in Neumberg or Homburg. He emigrated to Paulskoye, Samara, Volga, Russia, on July 7, 1767. Paulus George arrived at Oranienbaum, Russia on 15 September 1766. His family were part of the colonists of Recruiter Beauregard, who sailed from Luebeck by the Luebeck ship "Der Junge Heinrich," skippered by Heinrich Niemann. They arrived in the Paulskoye Colony on July 7, 1767. Paulus George worked as a Stocking or hosiery maker (Strumpfwirker). His religious affiliation was Lutheran. Paulus George died in Paulskoye, Samara, Volga or in Reinwald, Samara, Volga, Russia, on about 1798 at the age of 67. This is the story of his descendants, their time in Russia and their immigration to the United States.
